The Student Telecounseling Admissions Representatives (STARs) program began in 1993 and quickly became a model for institutions across the country. The group consists of current University of Northern Iowa students from a wide variety of majors and backgrounds.
The STARs call prospective students at every step
of the admissions process to provide information regarding important deadlines,
campus visits, and life as a UNI student. The STARs relate their personal
experiences and build relationships with prospective students. In an effort
to communicate with all prospective students, the STARs attempt between 40,000
and 50,000 calls each year.
